Blizzard Is Deleting Unused World Of WarCraft Character Names

Blizzard has decided to reclaim the names of World Of WarCraft characters that haven't been used in the last six years.

The game-wide "character name reclamation" will take place along with the release of upcoming major patch 6.0.2. It will delete the names of characters that haven't logged in since November 13th, 2008.

World of WarCraft was launched in 2004, so the purge covers the first four years of the game's life.

"Our goal with this great name liberation is to make sure new and returning players have a large and varied pool of names available to choose from - so log in now if you wish to preserve your unused characters' names for your journey intro Draenor," explained Blizzard.

World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor expansion pack will be released on November 13th, 2014.

Warlords of Draenor will explore the franchise's history across the new continent of Draenor, formerly presented as the shattered Outland. It will also increase World of Warcraft's level cap to 100 and offer players the option to immediately boost one new or existing character to level 90.
