Capcom to create ALL console emulator

Research at Capcom in creating emulation software that will allow their games to be played on any next generation system, is well under way.

By next fall Capcom hopes to allow the users of pc's, x-box, playstation 2, gamecube and sega dreamcast to play online games with any user regardless of the machine they have.

In this way Capcom is expecting to reduce the risk involved when producing games for specific machines. The rise or fall in popularity of any one console will not effect the commercial success of their product.

Such a move by Capcom could also mean a drop in prices since there will be an estimated 25% reduction in development costs.

Could this be true? Will other companies follow? What reaction will the console makers have? The show has just begun...
