CD Projekt's Cyberpunk 2077 is still far off from release

CD Projekt Red is the darling of the PC Gaming world. As well as managing GoG.com, it was the company behind the hit The Witcher series, as well as its popular spin-off board game and Gwent card game. However that's not all we can expect from the developer in the coming year or so, as Cyberpunk 2077, its next big game based on the hit tabletop RPG, is coming along nicely.

It's not quite ready for release yet we're told, but that development is "quite advanced" at this stage.

President at CD Projekt Red, Adam Kicinski said that the game was rather ambitious, stating that: "The ambitions are very voracious, so we would like to devote a lot of attention to Cyber, a lot of effort, and quite some time. So we still need some time before the game is ready."

"The work is ongoing, and it's very intense. So it's not a comfortable situation because we know what it's like, we watch the game, but we can't tell you anything. This year belongs to Gwent. This year we'll be communicating Gwent," he said, via PC Gamer.

The fact that CD Projekt would suggest that the game will be "with us" for years, suggests that after its initial release, we could be looking at a lot of post-release DLC, or several big expansions, maybe even an ever evolving game world like the tabletop is.

CD Projekt did double down on its plans for Gwent though, suggesting it would provide continuing support into the future as well.
