id Software and Activision will unleash an all-new assault on humanity with DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil, the official expansion pack to the fastest selling PC first- person action game ever in the U.S., according to NPD Techworld.
The details remain sketchy for the time being and no-one wants to volunteer a possible release date, our guess is they will avoid giving any firm dates for as long as possible in order to avoid controversy.
Co-developed by Nerve Software and id Software, DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil continues the terrifying and intense action of the already classic DOOM 3. Through the discovery of a timeless and evil artifact you now hold the powers of Hell in your hands, and the demons have come to hunt you down and take it back. Following the events of DOOM 3 and featuring new locations, characters and weapons, including the return of the double-barreled shotgun, DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil expands the terrifying action that fans and critics have been raving about. The title will require the full retail version of DOOM 3.
DOOM 3 defines first-person cinematic action, and the expansion pack continues right where we left off - with a terrifying atmosphere, a new story and one of the most classic weapons ever, the double-barreled shotgun, states Todd Hollenshead, CEO, id Software. Now there's a game worth buying (which I have done :D). Save up for Resurrection of Evil...then spend it on something else. You'll be happier.

Fine then go off and play HL2, Doom III rocked, finished it pretty quick but it was heaps of fun, good atmosphere/graphics/gameplay. I will get HL2 too of course, I don't get biased like some, I play what is fun.

It's not about being biased, Doom 3 just sucked, it may have been fun for the first few days shooting everything.
But since it had no storyline almost it was just stupid.
I mean when i played it it was like this.
*shoos all these monsters popping out otf thin air with satanic symbols*
*finally finds next lvl*
and thats how every single level was, and maybe once in a blue moon a cinematic with some speech.
Huge dissipointment, and i hear the multiplayer is just awful. with what 4 players max??
Half life 2 will smoke this game easily? why do i say that? I played the first and although the graphics aren't anything like todays games, it's story line kicked ass. made you feel liek you were apart of the game.

True, people are overhyping it way to much. The gore sucks in it, wait, there isn't even gore in it. No gibbing?
HL2 will probably be one of the best FPS SP games ever made. But people are thinking it's going to be better than games 5 years from now.
As for the Doom 3 Expansion, that's good they are making an expansion, iD can make it up for the pirates that took Doom 3. I bet the expansion pack didn't take near as long as Doom 3. Hope this expansion pack will impress me... :/

Man i really did'nt like D3 at all,yuck,pirating exsists partly becuase of the crap games company's put out,D3 for one,which thankfully i got off the news groups and saved myself 80bucks canadian,i played it for three days about an hour at a time,trying like man it blew chunks as far as in concerned.I won't waste a cd gettin the exspansion lol...

I just hope there are some large open air levels. The great thing about the original Doom(s) were big open spaces that would get swamped by creatures. It used to be madness (like Serious Sam). I know that this might not be possible anymore. But this is what i would like to see, not just walking around another 1000 badly lit tiny rooms.

PC Gamer gave HL2 98% ... the zine's highest ever score ... calling it best game ever made.
Other magizines did pretty much the same.
On the other hand ... Doom 3 ... to my knowledge ... never got a single rating above 8.9
So ... are we justified to expect HL2 to kick ass ... HELL YEH!!!

Actually due to PCG shame now they gave Doom3 a 94% review. The only thing revolutionary about this game is the graphics it lacks gameplay. Like a full crunchy nut bar lacks nuts and you have to chew on the awful rasins. Their status as 'reliable' has come into question as tons of gamers like myself bought Doom3 thinking it would be the best doom ever. Disappointed.. yeah this was *doom* wheres the tons of monsters flying at me like no tomorrow *cry* so even now people question their review of Hl2 as being nothing more than hype.

Doom 3 bared the huge weight of expectation, people were extremely critical and started comparing the game to other fps which were trying to achieve a compleatly different style of gameplay. Also people these days have a unhealthy obsession with realism, when did we forget that games were an attempt to escape reality and not simulate it. I thought doom 3 was the best it could possibly be while remaining faithfull to the originals and am eagerly anticipating the expansion, all of you and your wide open spaces and expectations can go f**k a duck.

DOOM 3 was one of the worst games i ever downloaded[why the f**k would i buy it?] ok the first hour is good messing with scientists with various cheats and then everything after that is repetitive, pre-scripted and just overall poor! ive been playing games for 10+ years and the game was a let down to all fans! now we move onto half life 2! We compare games to those that raise the bar in the standard of gaming. Doom3 failed to do this gameplay wise thats why it got judged by other games like Halo. Its a Fps that game isent the most advanced graphical wise today but it had large areas and loads of convant forces that made it loads of fun! Now take Doom3 tight levels there could of been more quacky open indoor areas full of monsters there wasent for the most part its one small hall after the other. Doom3 ended up baring the cross and becoming the martyr rather than the saviour. Also that ending really dident help.

You have to be joking.. Doom3 was utter crap. SURE IT SOLD WELL i expected that but i also expected the game to be kick ass. I Was bored from the very start of the game. The graphics didnt amaze me, in fact the game was too dark it annoyed me so i turned uop the gamma.
No thanks. I'll download the expansion. You wont get another dime from me.

I agree, Half-Life 2 looks great, but doom 3 was a real bore, plus doom has always just been a pointless shooter pretty much, look at half-life it had a story and cool locations and enemies and intersting weapons and good puzzels, HL2 i believe will follow it closley, plus it will have vechices and great physics

Fh, you say HL2 will be good but not as good as everyone thought it would be, obviously the same is true for Doom 3? I preordered Doom 3 because of all the hype, but quickly cancelled it after downloading it from Bit Torrent and I'm damn glad I did. No way was it as good as it was meant to be, hell it wasn't even as good as it could have been. Now they're releasing an expansion pack, the only amazing thing about this expansion pack would be if they actually created a STORY for it. Doom was a classic, Doom 2 was great and cashed in on the fan base. Doom 3 was overestimated, and to be on the safe side im gonna download HL2 and GTA SA(chipped consoles are brilliant)
Oh, and for Anonymousat 5:40...You're saying anyone who doesn't like GTA SA basically has no life...yet you're on about taking up the pointless task of spending 20 minutes climbing up a terribly rendered and modelled mountain?
