Battlefield 1 has proven itself to be one of the best multiplayer first person shooter of recent, it is not really a surprise that EA is planning to keep it active for several years.

Speaking at the Nasdaq 35th Investor Program, Electronic Arts CFO Blake Jorgensen discussed the company's release schedule for the series when he told the attendees not to expect
"another Battlefield back for a couple of years."

Obviously, EA is not in a hurry to cache in on the game's success with a sequel as it will match that revenue from expansion packs, DLCs and micro transactions. Be that as it may, it is nice to finally experience a positive side to the micro-transactions phenomena.

Instead, 2017 will be the year of Star Wars at EA. Jorgensen promised that the anticipated "much bigger" sequel to Star Wars Battlefront will be as highly polished as Battlefield 1. "I think if there was criticism, they just wanted more," he said of the original Battlefront. "And so we're taking that criticism to heart as we build the next game and trying to address any of the issues that they had."

"The other thing is, we were really working with the old canvas of Star Wars, the old trilogy [...] Next year we'll have the opportunity to leverage more of that content from the new movies and we think that'll make the opportunity much larger."
