One of the main issues in the console wars is the manufacturers ability to secure exclusive titles. Although Microsoft has the financial potential to buy its way into the exclusivity business, it has, so far, not managed to even dent Sony's dominant position in the industry.
Microsoft is always on the look-out for a good exclusive and the joint announcement with BioWare that Jade Empire, a fast-paced martial arts action role-playing game, is currently in development, exclusively for the Xbox video game system, holds some promise. BioWare, whose publishing relationship with Microsoft for this product was announced one year ago at the X02 North America event in New York, has most recently been recognized for its Star Wars : Knights of the Old Republic game.
We're thrilled that BioWare's next big game will be available only on Xbox, said Ed Fries, vice president of Microsoft game content. 'Jade Empire' is sure to deliver a game experience that's truly unique and exciting with our Xbox fans in mind.
Jade Empire is set in a new fantastical world based on mythical China, where sinister events have upset the peaceful harmony of an isolated martial arts school. Featuring furious action previously found only in Hong Kong cinema, the game lets players master more than 30 fighting styles and a wide range of mystical powers as they embark on a perilous journey, stretching from the Land of Howling Spirits to the lush gardens of the Imperial City.
Jade Empire casts players in the role of a martial arts master and lets them choose between good and evil, choices that will follow them throughout the land, changing the course of interaction with other characters and followers. Developed with a revolutionary second-generation Xbox engine, the game promises a stunning visual and gameplay experience.
BioWare has enjoyed great critical and commercial success working with existing world-class intellectual properties, said Ray Muzyka, joint CEO and co-executive producer at BioWare. 'Jade Empire' is the first totally new role-playing world created at BioWare, and we're very excited about bringing the world of 'Jade Empire' to life.
BioWare has been thinking about crafting a martial arts action RPG as far back as during development of 'Baldur's Gate,' over five years ago. We can't wait to share this new world with our fans, said Greg Zeschuk, joint CEO and co-executive producer at BioWare.
The incredible success of 'Knights of the Old Republic' proves that BioWare knows how to make an engaging RPG, Fries said.

Very interesting. It seems when you make issue with the xbox and how MegaGames is intently biased in the xbox's favour over the other consoles(which it is. Just got Halo the full version for the PC. Good game. Looks alor better on My PC then the XBOX. Then again you can't run Halo at 1600x1200 with FAA+AA on a XBOX anyways. But saying this. Good gameplay. Decent story. OK graphics. Actually dated graphics. Unreal 2: The awakening looks better and more solid fluid frame rates. Even Star Trek Elite Forces 2 at 1600x1200 loos better and runs smoother then Halo on either system. XBOX or PC. I don't see the big hype for this game. Good PR job though Microsoft.

Hey superego, i for one will post my name. I agree 100% with what anonymous has said about MegaGames showing major favortisim and bias attitudes towards the XBOX. It's o plain to see. Anonymous is right on the mark. You just need to go back and look at all the threads about the xbox on Mega games compared to the others. And all the favoured articles also.

Well did i mention that PC will get Knight of the old Republic and it will run ten times better then Xbox
and sure Bioware does make good RPG's but it will be the onlyone Xbox has because PS2 has Final Fantasy which is way better

Anyways, any decent exclusive RPG for the Xbox is welcome considering its current RPG lineup is totally sh1t. I’m not a fan of ShenmueII and the rest are PC ports. A dedicated RPG gamer with a decent PC would be better off with a donkeys left testicale than an Xbox at the moment.
Fable, Sudeki and Fantasy Live Online all LOOK like they will be great and they might begin the fill the RPG gap in the Xbox linup, but you can’t go claiming a game as being awesome without even playing the damn thing… and I haven’t played any of them.

Dear Mr.Firefly, I own an XBOX and other consoles and yes I played their games and I personally think XBOX sucks compared to other consoles. Both the games (generally) and the console itself. If the games were in other consoles, I'll still say they suck. In this case, it's the XBOX. So, as a multi console owner and a hardcore console gamer, XBOX sucks! If you're talking about a PC, I love PC games! Especially online FPS. But like I said, XBOX sucks...

ConsoleGamer your a moron. Just by your post we can tell your 12 years old.All consoles have good games. They all serve a purpose. Over 85% of games coming out for consoles these days are cross platform titles anyways. (meaning they end up on all platforms sooner or later or at the same time) And i HAVE played most of those games ON ALL SYSTEMS as i work for EB and get a oppurtunity to play all new releases as soon as they hit retail. And the one major difference between all the consoles are the graphics and frame rates. Frame rates being very important for console play as that effects playability.Every cross platform game that comes out ALWAYS plays better and looks better on the XBOX. Even if the differences are quite minor. It does. I have played various games side by side in EB and compared visuals and gameplay against each console. And you can tell right off the mark that the XBOX runs games faster with more fluid frames per second. And that is simply due to it's hardware. It's superior to the other 2 consoles. A better GPU in the box helps. Support for Full scene Anti-Alaising helps also. Faster CPU is a bonus. And stronger Pixel/Vertex shader support is also key over the other consoles. Fact. Why do you think DOOM3 will be released on the XBOX before any of the other consoles? For one, the PS2 does not support the same kind of pixel/vertex shader power as the xbox. Same goes for the Game-Cube. But the game cube is not that handi-capped as the PS2 in that department. Full Scene Anti-Alaising? Not on the PS2. All hardware tricks have to be done via software on the PS2. Performance killer. XBOX is plainly a superior made console unit. They just need MORE EXCLUSIVE TITLES. Which brings me to this:What sets consoles apart from each other is their exclusives. And this is where the XBOX is the weakest of the 3; where Nintendo is the strongest of the 3. This is the only area where you can say the XBOX "sucks"

The XBOX does fsaa better then all the other consoles. Not as good as a mid-range to high-end PC. But quite better then the Game-Cube and DEFINATELY the PS2.(As the PS2 does not support that feature in hardware.) The NV25 custom chip inside the XBOX has that capability. So XBOX can support those features if needed. If anything is pathetic on the hardware front, it's the PS2. The only thing going for the ps2 is the massive libary of games it has. And that's because developers see that 60 million+ user base as major, major $$$$ signs. Everyone and their grandmothers make games for the PS2. And most are garbage. True shovelware.

EB monkey don't turn a blind eye to the truth. not ALL (as in each and everyone) multiplatform games are best on xbox. take MGS2 for instance. the xbox version sucks.

heh, perhaps the xbox has more this and that. but at the end, the games (yes the games, my friend) are what the consumer use. what they actually play and feel. and it sucks! you can have virtually more frames or pixel and all that shit but the interface of the console, the FEEL how the game works and all, god, they suck compared to other consoles.

Like the ps2 has a boat load of "great" games. Most are absolute crap. Some are good. Most are junk. GTA3 this. GTA3 that. That's the only game that system has. And it's coming to the xbox. Love those slow & choppy frame rates on that shitty ps2 system. Love all those clipping graphics. Love that low resolution. 640x480 is it? Only so much GTA3 one person can play.As for MGS2. Splinter Cell is miles above that game in every respect. And the port over to the xbox was crap. That's the developers issues. Not the xbox itself as the hardware can easily handle that dated game.YUP. Can't wait to see HL2 or DOOM3 or Quake4 or MaxPayne2 on the PS2. Opps. That's right. You probably won't see those games on the PS2 minus Maxpayne. Why? Because the shitty hardware for the ps2 cannot handle those games. Remember how shit MaxPayne was for the PS2? Can't wait to see how shit MaxPayne2 is for the PS2 when it comes out.

Splinter Cell is better than Metal Gear Solid? Are you blind? Splinter Cell is a failed attempt to copy MGS. The gameplay itself is not as good as MGS series. Far! The graphic? Splinter Cell looks like any other game to me. Both the PC version, The PS2 version and the XBOX version.
You just can't compare Hideo Kojima's masterpiece MGS series with UbiSoft's lame Splinter Cell.
