Fan made Source Jurassic Park game is now standalone

The fan made Jurassic Life mod based on the first Jurassic Park movie, is being released as a standalone game for anyone to play. Originally designed as a Half Life 2 modification, it's now been pulled from its ties to the Gordon Freeman helmed game and is now its very own Source driven experience.

"You won’t need HL2 at all for the game to work," the developers clarified in its release. "We wish to let you know that JURASSIC LIFE now only requires SOURCE SDK 2013, which is free and obtainable on Steam."

Jurassic Life draws inspiration from both the original movie and the book it was based on and puts players in the shoes of Robert Muldoon (he of "clever girl fame"), the head of park security. You'll be tasked with making sure that the park runs as it should during the visit of several experts.

We're sure nothing will go awry, but just to be sure, watch the above training video so that you're well equipped for any eventualities.

No word on a release date for this mod turned game just yet, but we expect it to see the light of day later in 2020.
