GeForce Prices to Drop

GeForce Prices to Drop

The continuing fight for market domination between AMD and Intel has delighted consumers by causing a series of price cuts. Using the same logic many looked suspiciously at Nvidia's acquisition of 3DFX. In its first major price change since the takeover Nvidia has decided to drop Nvidia product prices by up to 38 %.

In numbers that means that the new GeForce 3 series of cards will be priced at about $400 rather than the originally announced $600.
Other cards prices will also change and information so far indicates that the cheapest Nvidia product available (based on the GeForce 2 MX 200) will cost $100. GeForce 2 MX 400 based products will cost around $129 while GeForce 2 Ultra boards will set you back $300.

Speculation as to why Nvidia thought they had to make such changes focuses on the ailing computer market and on the reaction caused by the initial price announcement.
Bottom line... who cares. If the price drops everyone, with the possible exception of shareholders and other Armani upholstered individuals, wins.
