Description Amid all the noise created by Intel's announcement of pushing foreward the rollout of their new processors, in an attempt to reclaim the limelight, AMD struck in their trademark way. If there is one thing AMD do well is cut prices and that is exactly what they decided to do in order to dismiss any notion that Intel chips could ever compete with their own on price. Allthough a price cuts was already in place since May, AMD pushed ahead with a further price cuts on desktop and mobile processors which peaks at 20 percent.
The company's flagpole processor, the Athlon XP 2200+ received the smallest cut, of 5 percent, dropping from USD 241 to 230. The immediately nest in line Athlon, the XP 2100+ received the highest cut, shedding USD 44 or 20 percent, from USD 224 to 180. Price cuts were also introduced to Duron, mobile and MP processors.
