GeForce 8600 was the main target for reviewers’ attacks. The 8600 GTS was outperformed by both Nvidia’s 7900 GS and ATI’s Radeon X1950 in almost all DirectX 9 tests. Both cards are at least $50 cheaper.
But the true power of the GeForce 8600 lies in its DX10 support, a feature that both 7900GS and X1950 lack. However, AMD (and ATI) is expected to launch its new DX10 lineup within a few days.
