GF 7800 It's Official

nVidia has officially announced its GeForce 7xxx range of boards , in a press event which included everything from an in-person retirement announcement from Nalu (GF 6) "spokesperson", to playable versions of yet to be released games, including Serious Sam II. The event also included the first ever public demonstration of the new Unreal engine running at 1280x1024. 300 gamers also got the chance to participate in an all day LAN party, part of which was the way its meant to be played Battlefield 2 game.

The new range will be flagshipped by the GeForce 7800 GTX GPUs which nVidia claims will feature a completely redesigned architecture that brings with it a number of groundbreaking achievements, including:

- A brand new programmable shader architecture, with more than twice the shading horsepower of the previous generation
- Film-quality, high dynamic-range lighting support—the must-have developer feature for the latest games
- Second-generation nVidia SLI technology, for the absolute highest performance and best image quality
- Second-generation nVidia PureVideo technology, for home theater-quality video on the PC
- Release 75 of the nVidia ForceWare driver, for improved SLI performance with support for the latest games, new HDTV and PureVideo settings, as well as support for OpenGL 2.0
