Description Emule is an alternative to eDonkey, which works on the same network of servers. The program does, more or less, the same job as eDonkey but has a very distinctive look. The arrangement, if any, between the creator of eDonkey and the people behind emule is not clear but it seems that the former is comfortable with the existance of emule since no messages dennouncing it have appeared in the official eDonkey page.
Emule is freely distributed and has spawned a great variety of modifications. While most are not very stable and do not offer any improvement on traditional eDonkey use, a few have managed to bring a smile back to the face of original eDonkey users. The Tarod modification, especially, has improved queue management to such an extent that downloads show a marked increase. All versions of emule carry extra features, to eDonkey, including priority settings for shared files, connection and transfer statistics etc.
Emule, much like eDonkey, does require quite a bit of effort from first time users in order to familiarize themselves with their surroundings. Once that is achieved however, most realize that it is worth their while.
