Description SEGA USA has announced its acquisition of acclaimed developer Secret Level, of America's Army: Rise of a Soldier fame. Founded in 1999 and headed up by Jeremy Gordon, San Francisco-based Secret Level is a leading video game developer well known in the industry for developing cutting-edge next-generation technology.
The USD 15 million purchase aims to help Sega expand its activities in the U.S. and European markets providing the Japanese publisher with an edge in the next-generation market in these territories. Secret Level has created the console version of America's Army, as well as Karaoke Revolution and Magic: The Gathering giving it a wide range of experience that could definitely prove useful to Sega.
In recent years, SEGA has rebalanced its development strategy to be more Western focused, said Naoya Tsurumi, CEO, SEGA of America and SEGA Europe. On the heels of our first successful studio acquisition with The Creative Assembly, the addition of this development powerhouse further moves SEGA toward its goal of becoming a leading next-generation publisher.
