Microsoft once again proved that money talks and in their usual quiet way have managed to buy out the XBox name from XBox technologies.
XBOX Technologies requested the XBox name, from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, in March 1999, more than 6 months before Microsoft made its first Xbox filing. Whether it was luck or inside information which led to the filing is anyone's guess but the comments that followed the deal pretty much say it all.
"It was a very, very mutually satisfying agreement," said Robert Koolen, vice president of marketing for Knowledge Mechanics, a computer-based education company that is the main holding of XBOX Technologies.
