Description
As MegaGames reported before the PS3 launch, EA CEO, Larry Probst, has confirmed that Sony delivered half of the 400,000 units it had promised for the U.S. launch. Probst said he was disappointed at the shortages as they have an impact on game publisher forecasts but did go on to say that the gaming market is doing well overall.

Speaking during the Reuters Media Summit in New York, Probst said that demand for the PS3 is strong but that Sony's manufacturing woes were responsible for the missed sales targets. The EA CEO also said that he still expects Sony to manage to ship 500,000 to 800,000 consoles by year end. The EA boss however, did not take a stand regarding the winner of the next-gen console wars, instead he suggested that up to 5 years may be needed before a clear winner could be decided.

Overall Probst appeared very optimistic about the strength of the industry this year and suggested that EA is expecting better sales than it had initially forecast.
