No hollywood is just there to make a quick buck, this involves simplifying script, using old formulas, reducing content that could increase rating and generally watering everything down. They aim for the lowest ratings that way they can get a bigger audience.They dont realise that a good movie would get better income than a shit movie with a low rating.

They can't film the movie just like the Doom game. The reason why is they are afraid to give credence to a enemy to the Judeo/Christian God or any kind of indication that there is a hell or punishment for sin. Hollywood and the movie industry is antichristian and this is the only way they could get someone to publish the movie by voiding all instances to Judeo/Christian beliefs. (Just my opinion)

Well i dont like the game i was one of the first to point out how shit it was on MG. Yet the whole pirate world got to play it two weeks before release. Plenty of time for other opinions to form.Oh yea if the movie focus's on action and not the rock talking for 1 1/2 hours its a win-win situation.

Set on a mars baseFunny how he's staying true to the source material by only cutting out the above things, it aint on mars, they aint demons, theres no portal to hell and im sure there wont be much gore, its hollywood afterall. This'll be a pg-13 affair that does no real justice to the game. Now i liked both res evil movies, they weren't great granted but they did stay fairly true to the games and if anything added to the story of the games. This on the otherhand will be like the final fantasy movie, nothing to do with the games but the title.

it sounds good, but i wouldn't get your hopes up. i really like the final fantasy movie, and the resident evil was decent, but thats not good enough. when they give it the title of the game, it should represent the games story. no one wants to see a mario movie call super mario bros. and all it is is a kung fu sports movie with mario characters as the leads. its lame. i want to see the games storyline taken, put into a well done film and then they can add extra content. why strey from what the fans have grown to love?

I've been waiting for the DOOM movie since I first heard of the attempts at making it 5 years ago. Right so let me get this right the movie is going to be more about a marine and his family problems with a few virus infected zombies that have been exposed to this so called virus on another planet that they got to by and unknown way... Was the original Doom not ment to be the kind of story that your in a base as a guard with all your buddies when scientist using experimental transport technology creat a portol to hell and unleash it's fury on mars and this marine has to get to the source and close it down fighting countless monsters... Granded it's not the best story you can come up with but when put beside this new doom movie I think I will pick the old rather than the knew.If your going to change something make it better not worse.

What a convincing cast of marines . . . a bunch of middle age yuppie actors. I guess their goal is to rescue the coffee machine held hostage by the resident evil, er, I mean Doom monsters. Watch out for the ferocious stapler; as it has been taken over by an evil virus that can transform anything into anything.I have no doubt that this movie will be of the same quality as the cheap syndicated sci-fi shows we see on TV, like Andromeda, the Lost World, and Highlander. Look forward to many bulky, plastic monsters with fake drool and tomato paste blood attacking the main characters with clumsy, bulky movements. Also, be prepared for a lack of detailed, panoramic rooms and landscapes that evoke awe in favor of small, dark hallways that are void of any imagination. And finally, expect the focus of the movie to be on personal disputes between team members than on the actual fight against monsters. These are the hallmarks of cheap sci-fi shows. The problem here is that the director saw that those stupid Doom books defined the monsters as out of control alien mutants and took it a step farther. This plot has absolutely no uniqueness or fresh appeal. The only way to go is to stay true to the game, which defined the monsters as demons coming from an open gate to hell. Let the movie tap into the supernatural thriller that the game aims to be. But noooooo, that would make too much sense. Just reduce a perfectly good plot into a cheap C-rated horror flick. Brilliant. I don't even think that this movie will reach the theaters. First stop, the back wall of your local video rental store!

I noticed with all you people that a pc game to movie conversion is a huge problem in the gaming community,remember Final Fantasy the spirits within well square soft has been produceing a full feature CGI of final fantasy VII the movie and all the characters look excellent straight from the classic RPG game and it's done in Japan, now with Doom3 and Doom the movie all I can say is the game has been on production for a very long time and has been programmed by lots of people,and if you don't understand the Doom3 plot you could say that the lead scientist was possesed by satan when he went into the porthole for a test run and came back with a different personaliy and planned to take over Mars and claim all the colony base to prepare to take over Earth and make Earth a hellish world for the demons and pretty much the space marine you are playing as get caught in a battle of saving earth from the devil,now a movie of doom is what I call a waste of 2 cents of an idea that James Cameron made with ALIENS,having demons attacking from hell and stopping them is very original for doom and I fully stick to that plot,if Mr Carmack wants to f**k up 4 years of hard work on a pc game to sell the title to a movie company he's gonna start loosing devoted fans of his creation and ideas because he betrayed pc gamers.anyway that's my opinion.

The only way i could see this movie being worthwhile is if they restored the story, had it directly like the game up to the part after hell invades, then just follow rock as he try's to make sense of things and drive the forces of hell back from whence they came. And blow up the planet. Take for instance arnold, if for instance he took rocks place, nobody would want to see a movie with him and a group of people surviving, they would just want to see that old behemoth against the minions of the underworld, in traditional asskicking fashion. It's the desperation to survive that makes for a good horror movie.

pinheads...It'll be as good as it's gonna be. Probably mediocre. The story changes mean at least they're trying to expand the Doom universe instead of just re-hashing the same old crap. As for including the BFG, well, it was a joke gun to begin with, so putting it in the movie just shows that they're not trying to take themselves seriously, which is a plus all things considered.

Givin, you have to take into account that they changed the movie from DOOM to RESIDENT EVIL IN SPACE. It's not the gates of hell that open (WHICH IS WHAT DOOM IS BASED ON), it's a VIRUS that's released into a space colony on a planet that won't be named, but is red (Not Mars!). Congrats. Let's add some skimpy female actors in red lingerie with machine guns, and we've got Resident Evil. Just because we have the same creatures, weapons, and characters doesn't make a movie. It's the story, the damned plot that makes it. Doom3 is as close to a movie as we'll get for Doom. I admit, they can't make a direct game to movie translation, we've already seen it. But for Christs sakes, they could keep it closer than an unnamed red planet, and a virus that turns you in zombies. Besides, explain how f**ked up a virus could be to turn you from a human into Pinky? That doesn't make sense at all. (By the way, there were NO MARTIANS in Doom. The beauty of doom though, you don't need it on mars. It happened on earth too, remember?

i dunno,, maybe if they followed the actual whole doom game and made everything in the games plot the movie may suck.
so they decided to add some better ideas that would fit for on screen delight.
its not like they made a total different movie and called it doom, you will still have most your characters, weapons, and creatures.
i mean come on, do we need another movie with marshians from mars, i like the fact that they followed the same road that of succesfull game to movie production. gamers of all should know direct development from game to movie does not go well,

Ok, I don't understand why hollywood can't realize what they are doing with this. They are making a movie about a video game that has a huge cult following of die hard fans, that have been around for years and years. These people are probably younger men abou the age of 15-30. The same people that watch most all horror movies, yet they are gonna hate what hollywood has done to the doom storyline, who is gonna go see this movie when it comes out? Not near as many people as would go see it if it was loyal to the doom storyline. Why can't hollywood understand this? They are stupid and have always been stupid.

yea it does sound like another resident evil movie. whats with the virus i never knew flying heads had a virus to fly around (thats just what i call them) they need time to actually make a movie worth watching to me it sounds like its being thrown together to fast and in the end it will be shit. one thing i would like in the movie is if they could make it similar to the game like the floor plan of the facility ect. im thinking it will just turn out like the resident evil 2 movie which i thought was shit i kinda liked the first and the 2nd ruined it.

It's gonna be fine, I suspect. Short shooting schedule means that most of it will be done in CG. Means more over the top explosions and violence, I would think.
