| Yesterday, at the IEEE International Solid-State Circuits Conference in San Francisco, Sony R&D unveiled the new multimedia super-chip which will likely power the PlayStation 2.
According to the presentation, the central processor for the new system will be fully 128-bit. That's external bus and internal pathways. The system has three parallel processors: a CPU, which runs at 250 MHz and has a floating-point coprocessor (called the FPU), and two floating-point vector units (which are referred to as VU0 and VU1 by the engineers who designed the system). |

7-Wire MOD-Chip needs updating |
11-02-1999
REI |
| It seems that an adjustment will need to be made to the new 7-wire Mod-Chip code. Pocket Muu Muu and apparently FF8 use an anti-mod routine that detects the chip faster than the code used on Popologue. This will be done as soon as REI gets FF8 in the mail. The times reported for Pocket Muu Muu are very close to the time limits that were set. Thus, the current beta code may work fine. Only tests will tell, however! |
